St. Paul’s Senior Services Celebrates its 60th Anniversary

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. (March 01, 2020) – St. Paul’s Senior Services celebrates its 60th Anniversary this year. Its milestone anniversary will be commemorated throughout the year with several events, including its annual Summerfest fundraiser to take place Aug. 22.

“St. Paul’s Senior Services has cared for thousands of seniors over these 60 years,” Cheryl Wilson, CEO, states proudly. “As our Mission states, St. Paul’s is spiritually guided to help seniors lead enriched lives through excellent and innovative services.”

Wilson, who is also celebrating a landmark anniversary, marks her 30th Anniversary at the helm of St. Paul’s.

“I’m so proud of the work we do at St. Paul’s every day that the time has just flown by,” said Wilson. “Some projects I’m particularly proud of include opening San Diego’s first Intergenerational Program bringing children and seniors together and opening San Diego’s first Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) twelve years ago. We have also opened six homeless housing projects housing over 240 formerly homeless seniors.”

As San Diego’s leader in senior care, St. Paul’s hosts educational programs to help families navigate the aging process. The “Plan for Tomorrow, Today “series – for seniors, families, and caregivers – includes various topics from healthy living tips to discussions on insurances and a description of care and aging levels. In addition to the semi-monthly workshops, St. Paul’s also hosts annual events, such as “lunch & learns” covering a variety of topics, a senior and family resource fair and expo, and a legislative breakfast to educate our elected officials and the community on senior issues. New this year, St. Paul’s also launched a networking program for young professionals in the senior care industry to provide education and support.

“With the mature market growing, St. Paul’s will also grow to meet the needs and desires of future seniors with education and support being a major component,” added Wilson. “Plans are being made to renovate, reimagine, and update our existing buildings so that they continue to provide a safe and beautiful home for our seniors. Additionally, we are looking into the potential for new communities and centers to house and serve seniors.”
