St. Paul’s Senior Services Names Sophia Lukas as New COO

San Diego, Calif. (April 3, 2023) – St. Paul’s Senior Services (SPSS) announces Sophia Lukas as its new Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Lukas brings a plethora of experience in healthcare operations, management, and strategy. She has led established senior living programs, as well as start-up operations.

Lukas returns to St. Paul’s after serving in several different roles over the years. Her mother worked for many years as the Controller of the SPSS Finance Department; growing up, Lukas spent many hours volunteering for SPSS, where she did her Administrator-in-Training program, and later, served as the Administrator of St. Paul’s Plaza.

Most recently prior to coming to St. Paul’s, Lukas was with WellQuest Living, a start-up senior living company with communities in California. In her role as Vice President of Operations, she managed large teams at established, as well as newly constructed, senior living communities. There she created new policies and procedures, improved financial performance through census growth and expense management, cultivated leadership, and opened three new communities for the organization during the pandemic.

Lukas also has experience working at for-profit and not-for-profit senior housing organizations, including a long tenure with HumanGood, where she held positions as an Administrator, Executive Director and Vice President of Operations, overseeing life plan communities and implementing a procurement department for the corporate office.

She has current licenses as a Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) and Administrator for Residential Care Facilities for Elderly (RCFE). She has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Spanish from University of San Diego, and a Masters of Long-Term Care Administration from University of Southern California, Davis School of Gerontology.
