Provides required training & staff development support throughout the organization. This includes Manor, McColl Health Center, Villa, Plaza, CCC, PACE Reasner and PACE Akaloa as required by regulations and as needed by St. Paul’s and St. Paul’s PACE.  Provides and/or ensures provision of needed clinical and non-clinical training throughout the operational arm of St. Paul’s Senior Services and St. Paul’s PACE.


  • Compiles data and analyzes past and current year training requirements to determine training needs of the organization. Confers with management on program training needs and develops In Service Calendars.Assists in formulating training policies, programs and schedules based on knowledge of identified training needs as required by federal and state licensing requirements and will formulate and/or make changes in resident services. (i.e., resident’s rights, safety, infection control, body mechanics, and lifting techniques, etc.).Coordinates and performs all CPR and First Aid training including the maintenance of all records for CPR and First Aid.Provides or ensures provision of required staff development activity and time as required by Title 22 to the McColl Health Center. Maintain all required records of licenses and certifications for all licensed staff and certified nursing assistants, and checks each one annually for all facilities.Ensures required in-services are provided for all CNA’s as outlined in title 22 for SNF and mandatories per regulations for RCFE, Senior Day, Childcare and other necessary areas.Will perform skills checklist assessment on all Villa staff annually.Records all in-service training for employee files.Selects appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play, and computer based training.Organizes and develops training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials as needed for the organization.In conjunction with Human Resources, train instructors and supervisory personnel in effective techniques for training such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, health and safety practices, management development, and adaptations to changes in policies, procedures, and technologies.

    Monitors nursing Quality Assurance (QA) indicators, as necessary, and reports at QA meetings.

    Oversees and coordinates infection control activities throughout the organization.

    Develops and provides in-service training as needed to support the organization’s safety and disaster preparedness activities.

    Administers selected medication for Intergenerational program within scope of professional license in compliance with licensing requirements for Senior Day and Childcare Programs, and consistent with these programs’ scope of services.

    When requested, consults with Intergenerational Program Director, Senior Day Director and/or Childcare Director regarding participants exhibiting symptoms of illness and/or distress.

    Keeps informed on new developments, methods, and techniques in the training field

    Assists with coordinating technical and professional on site training for courses offered by community schools.

    Coordinates all college and other nursing school training sessions with DON and Administrators.

    Assists supervisors in recommending employees for participation in internal or external educational and training programs through screening, testing, and interviewing.

Minimum Qualifications:  Must have a current license in the State of California as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, or equivalent education and training.  Must have a current CPR card.  Must be accredited by the State of California to conduct orientation and in-service programs, or be willing to become accredited.  Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and be able to read, write and speak fluently the English language.

Education and/or Experience:  RN, LVN, or equivalent training from an accredited school and a license to practice nursing or other health related field in the state of California; at least three years related experience including direct care or the chronically ill and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Recommend one year of DSD experience.  Must have an understanding of Title 22, federal and local regulations pertaining to health and safety issues.  Must have, or be eligible to receive, a DSD certification from the State of California.
