Independent Living

How does St. Paul's Senior Homes & Services define Independent Living?

The Independent Living environment at St. Paul's is designed for residents seeking a comprehensive package of household management services. Private resident apartments are available in various sizes and include semi-monthly housekeeping and weekly linen service. Independent Living Residents also receive three meals per day as part of the basic package. Other options such as in-room telephone, cable service and underground parking are also available.

How does St. Paul's Independent Living differ from its Assisted Living?

Independent Living Residents must be able to dress, groom and bathe themselves without any assistance from staff. All medications, prescribed or otherwise, must be self-administered without intervention or supervision from St. Paul's nursing staff.

Aside from household conveniences, are there other benefits available to the Independent Living Resident?

Many Independent Living Residents are able to benefit greatly from the companionship and camaraderie offered by fellow Residents. At St. Paul's, every Resident is encouraged to become a willing and active member of our community by participating in a variety of planning activities both on and off-site.

How can Residents take advantage of St. Paul's location?

St. Paul's Manor and St. Paul's Villa are conveniently located in the uptown of San Diego with a wide-range of amenities nearby. Located only a few blocks from Balboa Park, Residents can enjoy some of San Diego's finest museums and the world famous San Diego Zoo. Also, access to Downtown San Diego with its abundance of restaurants and shopping is only minutes away via bus or taxi. Residents will also find a number of medical facilities and private physician's offices within walking distance of each campus.

Does St. Paul's offer a safe and secure environment for its Independent Living Residents?

Both St. Paul's Manor and Villa are staffed 24/7 including on-site security personnel. As an added safety feature, each apartment is equipped with an emergency response system, which will alert staff that immediate attention is required.

Residents can take advantage of an on-site barber and beauty salon, a well-stocked library and an interfaith chapel. Roman Catholic, Episcopalian, Interdenominational and Jewish Residents can attend regular weekly services.

How does St. Paul's oversee the well-being of its Independent Living Residents?

In order to ensure the safety and well being of our community, each resident is asked to sign-out when leaving the premises and sign-in upon their return. Residents are requested to alert staff if they plan not to be in attendance during the evening meal. If a Resident is absent during the evening meal and did not sign-out, St. Paul's staff is then alerted that a Resident is absent and did not sign-out.

Does St. Paul's offer Independent Living apartments and related services at a reasonable price?

As a non-profit organization, St Paul's Senior Homes & Services is dedicated and able to provide the highest quality facilities, health care and programs consistent with affordable cost.
